Joe Huber is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer at Huber Capital Management LLC.
Prior to founding Huber Capital Management he was a Principal and Director of Research for Hotchkis and Wiley Capital Management, overseeing more than $40 billion in U.S. value asset portfolios. He built a research platform which utilized best practices of fundamental research combined with behavioral psychology to capitalize on the art piece of investing, creating a unique and value-added investment approach.
Prior to joining Hotchkis and Wiley, Mr. Huber served as Portfolio Manager and Director for Merrill Lynch Asset Management and as Portfolio Manager for Goldman Sachs Asset Management in New York.
Mr. Huber received his BA in statistics and econometrics from Northwestern University where he was departmental valedictorian and received the Directors Award for top graduating GPA amongst student athletes. He received his MBA from University of Chicago with concentrations in accounting and finance, where he was elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. He is Series 3, 7, and 63 qualified and is an Associate in the Society of Actuaries (A.S.A.).
Mr. Steiner is a Principal and Portfolio Manager of Huber Capital Management LLC.
Prior to joining Huber Capital Management, he spent seven years at Awad Asset Management in New York where he had portfolio management duties on their value based products.
He has also worked as a securities analyst for the Value Group at Prudential Investments, as well as at Furman Selz Capital Management and Lehman Brothers.
Mr. Steiner received a BS degree in Finance and Investments from Babson College and received his MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business.
Mr. Schloemer is a Principal and Portfolio Manager of Huber Capital Management LLC.
Prior to joining Huber Capital Management Mr. Schloemer was the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Canyon Row Capital, a state registered investment advisor focused on concentrated value equity portfolios.
He has also worked as a partner and portfolio manager at LeVasseur Capital Partners and Cooper & LeVasseur. Prior to entering the investment industry Mr. Schloemer worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company.
Mr. Schloemer graduated magna cum laude with a BA in English from Georgetown University (1990) where he was also elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa. He received his MBA from Stanford University (1997).
Gary Thomas is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of Huber Capital Management LLC.
Prior to joining Huber Capital Management he was employed by Provident Investment Counsel, where during his 15 year tenure he served in various roles of operations and compliance. His most recent position was that of a Vice President, responsible for all operational and compliance issues for the firm’s mutual fund family and sub-advised mutual fund relationships. He oversaw the funds’ activities and relationships, including those with shareholders, broker-dealers, service providers, and Boards of Trustees. He was responsible for the implementation of the overall mutual fund strategy, including new mutual fund offerings and any reorganizations.
Mr. Thomas received a BS degree in Business Administration, with concentrations in Finance and Marketing, from the University of Southern California.
Ms. Kzlyan is the Vice President of Operations for Huber Capital Management LLC.
Ms. Kzlyan has over 15 years of industry experience, most recently with Western Asset Management Company. She has served in various roles within operations, trading, and portfolio administration, including as a securities operations specialist, account transitions manager, and as an equity trading assistant. Prior to WAMCO, she worked at Provident Investment Counsel, Loomis Sayles & Co, and the Sierra Trust Mutual Fund.
Mr. Karger is a Portfolio Manager at Huber Capital Management LLC.
Mr. Karger is responsible for day to day equity analysis for the strategies. In addition to his responsibility of conducting investment research for the Energy sector, Mr. Karger helped implement the firm’s proprietary Equity Risk Premium model and Investment Universe Screening tools, as well as enhanced HCM’s Dividend Discount Model functionality and comparability. Mr. Karger first joined HCM in 2007.
Mr. Karger received a BA degree in Economics with a focus in Accounting from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Mr. Peterson is an analyst at Huber Capital Management LLC.
Erik distinguished himself academically by graduating valedictorian of his high school class and receiving a perfect score (2400/2400) on his SATs.
He received a BS degree with honors in Mathematics from the California Institute of Technology in June 2011. Relevant coursework included Stochastic Calculus, Short Rate Models, Derivatives Pricing, Differential Topology, and Credit Risk Analysis. In addition, Erik has relevant experience in computing yield and credit spread curves as well as the implementation of homogeneous credit default option (CDO) models to compute tranche spreads.
Ms. Le earned her bachelor’s degree in Economics with a Value Investing concentration from the University of California, Los Angeles in June 2022. While at UCLA Ms. Le was chosen as one of 40 students to participate in the highly-selective Value Investing concentration, which provides students with hands-on experience in investment management. Relevant coursework included Applied Value Investing, History of Financial Crises, Money and Banking, and Competitive Strategy. She was also a student intern for the Benjamin Graham Value Investing Program.
Mr. Mehta earned a Business Economics degree with a minor in Accounting from the University of California, Los Angeles, having graduated in June 2022. While at UCLA he participated in the Bruin Investment and Trading Group and completed relevant coursework including Financial Statement Analysis, Financial & Managerial Accounting, and Statistical Programming.
Emilia Lipovac is a Client Service Associate/ Trader for Huber Capital Management LLC.
Ms. Lipovac graduated from California State University, Fullerton, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a finance concentration. While attending California State University, Fullerton, Ms. Lipovac was a member of the Student Managed Investment Fund, where she competed in the CFAOC RFP Regional Competition. Prior to joining Huber Capital Management, Ms. Lipovac interned at Titan Capital Management, where she aided in equity research and portfolio management.
In 2019 Ms. Lipovac was awarded 1st place in California State University, Fullerton Seeking Alpha Research Competition.
